Changes in the drone market share of DJI, Autel and Skydio

New data from Skywatch.ai, an insurance technology expert in the drone industry, shows that there have been some early changes in the market share of commercial drones. Since the FAA issued its first commercial license in 2006, the commercial drone market has undergone tremendous changes. Skywatch relies on its unique position in the industry to collect data from policy issues across the United States from 2018 to 2021 to track changes in drone market share and pricing.

Drone market share: who is making progress?

The drone manufacturing industry is maturing-drone customers are also maturing. As the capabilities of drones increase, they are used for more complex and specific applications. What does this mean for the drone industry? There is no doubt that DJI is still the dominant drone manufacturer. However, new manufacturers are entering the field: big brands like Autel and Skydio, dozens of other companies with unique products and capabilities have also increased their market share.

Commercial drones can do more: but with increasingly sophisticated and accurate sensors, the average price is rising. "Our analysis shows that the current average price of consumer drones is US$2,903.76, which has risen 22% since 2018," Yusim wrote.
Over 3 years of data from dozens of brands and thousands of individual units provide valuable insights into the positions of various industry players. DJI still has a dominant position in this field, but the growing demand and continuously developing capabilities have narrowed the gap to a certain extent.
